Brief:

Lane published a quarterly schedule which included the upcoming semesters courses, events and relevant information for students. We were given the opportunity to take over the publication and simultaneously create a more cohesive and organized magazine but also revamp the publication into something engaging and pragmatic. Fun and expressive imagery and photos were used throughout to make the publication feel more alive and eye-catching. A welcomed change from the previous stodgy and colorless publication.

A comprehensive style guide was developed during this time to help future issues be presented in a consistent and recognizable way. Attention to layout, grid and hierarchy were advised along with using photos that were located by what is interesting and relates to the specific classes. The layouts are purposefully designed with the photos to direct the viewer’s eye movement in a pleasing way throughout each spread.

Each magazine included various articles or ads of certain events, news or relevant issues the college wanted to highlight. These were used to bring visual interest to the magazine and often incorporated graphics or messages which aligned with the quarterly ad campaigns we were running at the same time.
